We spent a week at this beautiful property, celebrating 2 milestone family birthdays . Our group of 13 included 8 adults, 4 kids under 5 and a 4 week old baby. The house was perfect in every way. Everyone had some space to themselves and the shared living areas were perfect for games and fun. The kids loved the garden and the short stroll to the beach was fantastic. The pool provided hours of fun, despite some very bad weather.Frances and her team provided additional bedding for the children; and special thanks to Pixie for her amazing help during the storm.Cannot recommend this property highly enough and can’t wait to return.
We just had a wonderful week at Barefoot- beyond our expectations! The property is elegant yet relaxed - the perfect combination in a very natural rainforest setting. Leading up to and during our stay Francis was extremely helpful and a delight to deal with.We ate at superb restaurants (recommended by Francis), walked and swam at the pristine beach and saw so many whales on their migration north. We cannot wait to return!
Response from the owner: Great to hear you had such a fine time Kim, winter can really sparkle at Broken Head. We are glad you are thinking of returning already, All my best, Tim
A great venue for a dream wedding. Thanks Tim & Frances for facilitating the first chapter of a wonderful marriage with a beautiful experience for family & friends.
The most picturesque, lux and lush place we could have chosen as our wedding venue and accomodation for a week! Frances and her team were superstars - available and on hand to ensure our wedding day was simply perfect! From the staging, bar and marquee set up, to the catering, gorgeous space and of course the dance floor, it came together better than we could have imagined. An absolute must for couples looking to have an intimate ceremony with space to celebrate. Our cocktail style reception, with Irish band was perfect for our group of about 65. Thank you Tim & Frances for providing us with a space to create the best memories!
This was a 5-star experience in every way. The property was perfect for our family of adult children and grandchildren. It provided space and privacy in the most gorgeous exotic setting. We loved hanging at the pool - the reading pool was fabulous - as well as in the open living room. We enjoyed yoga on the deck, and took advantage of the one-minute walk to the beach with many sunrise and sunset swims. Frances provided excellent tips and guidance and was always available and responsive. The proximity to Byron Bay is great when we could drag ourselves away from the pool, as well as Suffolk Park and Brunswick Heads. We loved everything about Broken Head!
Our 2nd time at Barefoot, this time for our daughters wedding in the garden with second set of photos on the short stroll (1 min) to the beautiful 10 K Tallows beach! It didn’t disappoint!Frances made everything so easy to plan as I FaceTimed from Canada! Food and service were fabulous! As were all the recommended vendors. They really made it special and I would recommend the venue for any celebration or for a big family getaway!
We couldn't recommend it more for a stay or to get married! Our time at Barefoot at Broken Head was simply perfect. Frances and the management team were instrumental in making our small elopement a seamless and beautiful experience. The day itself was executed flawlessly, from the stunning ceremony to the incredibly enjoyable atmosphere throughout. The food was fantastic, and the overall vibe was just perfect. Additionally, staying at the house for a few days around the wedding was an absolute pleasure. The space and location surpassed our expectations, making it an ideal spot for both a relaxing stay and a dreamy wedding venue.
Barefoot is just such an amazing place and Frances is an amazing host. We had our wedding here and we had the most special day ever and then continued to stay on for 5 nights with friends and family! It was such a memorable stay - we will definately be back soon!
If you’re thinking of getting married at Barefoot, don’t hesitate. We had an intimate wedding with 17 guests. Half of us stayed at Barefoot and the other half at a neighbouring property. We spent 4 days relaxing by the pool, going on beach walks, hikes and hopping into Byron. Our wedding was onsite at Barefoot half way through our stay. We had our ceremony in the garden, followed by the reception catered by their in-house chefs and bar staff. They setup a long table on the deck. The food was exceptional. Bar staff were friendly. Everything was easy and relaxing - which is exactly what we wanted. The wedding coordinator - Frances - is lovely. I couldn’t recommend this place any higher.
We didn’t know exactly the type of wedding we wanted until we found barefoot online, and it was perfect!Frances was incredibly helpful in organising everything for us, and we had everything we needed in one place on the day, with a garden ceremony straight into reception, and stunning photos on the beach.Staying in the villa with our families and bridal party was also extra special. All our friends loved the wedding, and some have tried to imitate for their own.Couldn’t recommend more!
We booked 5 days at Barefoot for our intimate Broken Head wedding and it was everything we wished for and more!Firstly, the house is absolutely STUNNING! The open, indoor/outdoor living is so relaxing and dreamy. We had 9 adults and 2 children in the house and never felt on top of each other. The space is so well designed that there is always space to get away and have some quiet, private time away from the other guests but also large communal areas to gather and socialise.Secondly, the location! I think Broken Head speaks for itself with how beautiful the location is! A short walk down a private footpath from the house to a wide stretch beach that was so quiet that it felt like our own private beach! From the beach and from the road, you wouldn't even know the house was there. It is so private, yet so close to town if needed. The gardens of the house were just as beautiful, sitting on the back deck and the day bed of the honeymoon suite, listening to the waves of the ocean and the birds in the trees was just absolute bliss!Lastly, Frances - the house manager. So friendly and helpful! Frances held my hand through-out the whole wedding planning period. Answering my silly questions and basically planned the whole run of the day for me! She understood our dreams of a minimalist, intimate wedding and made it work! She was there the day of the ceremony helping to set up and helping to organise the day - way more than she responsible for!Thank you for your knowledge and help Fran, you are a credit to Barefoot!I would definitely recommend Barefoot for a wedding destination or even just a get away with friends and/or family - we will definitely back!!
We had a beautiful three nights at Barefoot for our mid-week small wedding. The house feels luxurious and spacious, with the layout allowing everyone to have privacy yet there is plenty of space to come together as a group. The grounds provided a stunning backdrop for our wedding ceremony and we enjoyed having our reception in the same location. The beach is just a short walk from the house and Byron Bay is a quick drive.Tim and Frances are also a pleasure & easy to deal with, making the whole booking process stress free.We hope to stay again in the future!
Response from the owner: Thanks Liz, it was a pleasure hosting you on such an important day and we hope to see you again for a big anniversary in the future, Tim and Frances
I have stayed in many airbnbs all over the world and Barefoot at Broken Heads tops them all. The home is very unique, Bali-style open plan living with gorgeous lush manicured gardens. Truly feels like paradise there with a private path to a secluded beach. Pictures do not do the place justice. Each bedroom it’s own structure giving us all separation with an open air living room in the middle. The home is luxurious, I appreciate the nice linens and a fully stocked kitchen which can be rare on airbnb - everything we needed as we do lots of cooking. The house is only a 3 minute drive from a little town with shops to get what we needed and less than 10 mins to Byron Bay! The service Tim provides is also exceptional. He accommodated us for an VERY early check in, was easy to communicate with and even organized change of bed linens as we had guests change over. He suggested activities, has bikes and boards at the house for use. Cannot recommend this enough and can’t wait to rent again!
We had the most blissful week with family and friends. Barefoot truly allows you to unwind in the amazing premises and all a short stroll to Broken Head, which I will say is one of the most spectacular beaches around. Thanks to Tim and Frances who were so accomodating and wonderful to deal with . Plenty of room for a few families with space to connect and also disconnect...... if thats what you need. We hope to return and would definitely recommend it.
Picture the apocalypse; I'm talking, a rainy, muddy, freezing post Splendour in the Grass 4 hour bus line - the literal pits. Now picture the complete opposite; that is this place. A warm, cosy, secluded, forested, paradisical refuge. You want a healing hung over coffee and fresh treat from the nearby (epic) bakery? You got it. You want to interact with no one while you lounge in the pool lounge ledger? You got it. You want to cool off in the pool after a hard day of lounging? You got it. You want to soak in the tub under the stars? You got it. Can you play the piano? Me either, but this place has one. We stayed a few wonderful nights in the thick of winter and had our own private oasis among the trees and away from the chaos of Splendour-riddled Byron Bay. Secluded enough that you feel totally at peace, but close enough to the beach and coffee that you don't feel too far from the creature comforts of home. Except that this place is way better than your home (if it's not, how is that even possible? Do you own a tropical island?), it's better than everything. 11/10, would recommend.
Response from the owner: Meg, We're glad you found some peace during Splendour, and thanks for the passionate review. We love Broken Head in the winter too...
AMAZING!!!!! The house was immaculate and so peaceful. The manager was fantastic. Always available to answer any questions and so warm and accommodating.
We stayed and had our wedding at Barefoot at Broken Head. We would do it all again if we could! A beautiful property perfect for our style of wedding. The house manager and wedding coordinator Frances, made our day perfect with her calm organised and friendly nature. All of our guests said it was the best wedding they had been to, being casual yet sophisticated and a stunning setting.Thank you Frances and Tim for helping make our day so special!X Tina and Paul
Response from the owner: Hi Tina, We're glad your day was everything you wished for. We hope to see you for an anniversary one day...
Great location, beautiful beach and host very easy to communicate with.
Tim and Frances are absolute GEMS, the booking process was smooth, the preparation for our stay was fantastic. The house itself has BLOWN us away.... the location is wonderful, the gardens a tranquil retreat, we loved that with all the pavilions we were able to escape the noise of the family when needed, but also able to gather comfortably in the large kitchen and lounge. We had 8 adults and 4 kids with every creature comfort we could need. The best part of this amazing property is Frances, we held our wedding ceremony on the beach and our reception dinner on the back deck. Every step of the way Frances held my hand through the planning and went above and beyond to make our day smooth sailing. From arranging flowers on our arbour in the wind, to shedding a tear as we had our first dance in the garden, Frances was such a huge part of our day. We will never forget your amazing hospitality. We look forward to sharing this special place with family and friends in years to come.Tim if you ever do decide to part ways with this gem, make sure the new owners continue to share it as you do, it is a delightful part of the world, it is so great you share this with everyone.
Response from the owner: Hi Harmony, Yes we love how the house is so big you can escape the family when you need to! And yes we'll be hosting weddings for many years to come... Please visit us again in a few years...
We had a small elopement at Barefoot at Broken Head and it was completely perfect. Frances and the management team were brilliant in helping us organise the day and the execution on the day was just fantastic. Our ceremony was beatiful and the rest of the day was just so much fun. The food and the vibe were so good!We also stayed at the house for a few days around the wedding and we loved the space and location. We couldn't recommend it more for a stay or to get married!
We had a fantastic week at Barefoot – it is a very special place. The weather for four of the days was ideal and even though it rained a little on the Thursday it did provide a different but enjoyable experience. The facilities were top class and the lap pool and the reading pool provided hours of fun. The beach bikes and boards were well used.Frances’ meet and greet was warm and friendly and set the mood for the week. Her set up of the sleeping arrangements was perfect and all family members had plenty of space.Andres and Franco from A chef’s pocket gave us a very enjoyable and delicious dinner. The whole experience will give the family a lifetime memory.
We booked our wedding at Barefoot at Broken Head, as well as stayed there for a week with family and friends to continue our celebrations. The venue is stunning, in a great location with fantastic amenities.Liaising with Tim to book the venue was seamless, and Tim was very accommodating with our change of dates due to the lock downs in 2021.Fran was a pleasure to work with in organising our wedding, liaising with suppliers and coordinating everything on the day.Looking forward to staying there again, and would not hesitate to recommend Barefoot for a small intimate wedding or celebration.
I had my wedding here , it was perfect! The house it's self is beautiful and in an awesome spot. Frances and Kate made my wedding day so easy and stress free , the food was so good everyone was commenting and the bar staff Chris and ally went above and beyond :) thank you
We had the most wonderful holiday in your gorgeous property. Thank you. We rode bikes on the beach; we were woken by birds in the morning, went and watched the sunrise, and then went back to bed (bliss); we chased the sun from room to room like cats; and we slept deeply. We saw dawn on Anzac Day from Broken Head, and I will remember that always. I would go back in a heartbeat.
Barefoot at Broken head is Brilliant. The house and its various areas is huge and very private. The garden is spectacular and everything serves a group brilliantly. Communication with Tim and the team with prompt, friendly and efficient throughout the stay. Hope to come back soon!
We stayed and got married here in November 2019, and we have nothing to say but WOW! This place is beyond fantastic - a true gem. The location is picture perfect, there is plenty of space for family to be far enough apart but still gather together, and the beach is literally a stones throw away.On top of that, the owner is extremely accommodating and the property manager Fran goes above and beyond the call of duty. We couldn't have asked for a nicer person! If you are thinking about booking Barefoot for your wedding or even just to stay, we highly recommend it - it'll not only make your jaws drop in awe, but also your guests.
Barefoot at Broken Head is an absolutely amazing destination. The house is beautiful and perfect for a group or family. The rooms are all very private and luxurious. The garden creates a tropical rainforest feel and it's right on the beach. We chose to get married here and used Simple Wedding Plan as our vendor. Everything was so easy and taken care of. The food was delicious and guests raved about it. Frances, the house manager doubled as the wedding coordinator for the day and was an absolute pleasure to work with, she took the stress out of the planning. We loved every moment of the time we spent here and highly recommend it.
INSTANT ZENWith borders closed, our mid-year trip to the tropics was a no-go and so the search started for the next best thing. Enter Barefoot at Broken Head. Just South of Byron Bay, this hidden paradise was about as far north as we could go without border control directing a U turn. North was a tick for our two families of sun worshipers. Next tick, Fran, the concierge. Your own holiday PA! No question went unanswered, Fran’s response was always speedy and her advice spot on regarding when and where to book restaurants, catering, spa, market trips etc. When we arrived Fran was putting our Woolies delivery in the fridge, which we did notice despite being distracted by the expansive villas and gardens we just entered.Onto the house. Loved, loved, loved the idea of the central villa with piano and huge lounge. Many reds drunk here. Beds were comfy, quality linen and lots of rugs and pillows. The master bedroom was like a honeymoon suite, the outdoor bath my personal favourite. The bathroom in the other double room was large too. The other three bedrooms were small but hey, we didn’t go there to sleep! The beach was as good as it gets, not busy, flat enough to ride a bike or walk to Suffolk Park Bakery - severe calorie warning. The was ocean nippy but nice and so clear. Liked the fact we could walk out the back gate and have a path to walk beach, eat your heart out Chris Hemsworth, home-to-beach distance a big tick if you are going to live in Byron. Pool at the house was gorgeous too, note to self - return in summer.Final tick, the owners have good taste in decor and design. Clearly they get the whole chillax idea with sun beds, water features, daybeds and decks for outdoor massage. We were sad to leave but full of anticipation to chill here one summer. We’ll be back. Thank you.
Thank you so much Tim for our stay at Barefoot – we had such a brilliant time as did all our guests.Francis was extremely attentive and Byron Bay Weddings (and all the other service providers) were simply excellent - a really spectacular venue for our beach wedding!
Barefoot is the most relaxing and beautiful place to stay.Frances, the house manager was extremely accommodating.Perfect for families, couples, anyone.Perfect location and perfect house. Will definitely be back.
“Barefoot was THE perfect venue for our laid back, intimate beach wedding! A stroll to the pristine beach for the ceremony and elegant yet casual reception on the decks surrounded by lush tropical gardens! Yes please. We couldn’t have dreamt of a more perfect wedding day, we chose to work with Byron Bay Weddings & everything fell perfectly into place! Our entire immediate family enjoyed staying at the house for the entire week and it was beyond incredible. The location and short drive to Byron town, has you in the heart of it all & feeling like you’ve been whisked away to private and secluded Broken Head. The spacious communal areas & private rooms ensured everyone had their own space and could retreat whenever desired yet full family dinners were a hoot! The layout is a dream. Frances was a delight. It’s tough to leave. We can’t wait to come back! "
Your property was absolutely breathtaking and all our guests praised it to death. And to think we relied ENTIRELY on Google and Instagram when deciding (no inspection required)! The photos and glowing reviews from the other guests are the real deal. We will be back! And, Frances is a miracle worker, the day would not have been possible without her and the Byron Bay Weddings team.
The most relaxing holiday myself and my family have had ! Perfect location and the house is out of this world !! 4 nights was not long enough. We really hope to be back. Unforgettable experience!
nice location
Amazing
We stayed at Barefoot in January 2019. We were a family of 3 generations for my mother's 70th birthday. Thirteen in total ranging in age from 7 to 73 and we had the best time ever. The house is out of this world, perfect in every way, immaculate and beautifully set out amongst the palm trees and garden. We thought we would venture out each day but ended up staying in as the house was so incredible. Francis (manager) was a delight and nothing was too much trouble. We used various catering, cake making and yoga people who all knew the house, what it had and how to get there...which made it all so easy. Days by the pool, meals inside and out, afternoons snoozing somewhere quiet, evenings around the open air lounge...you can't top that. Huge thanks and we will hopefully stay again one day. Bike riding on the beach was a definite highlight with my children riding with me.
Stayed for a friend's wedding. A wonderful tropical feel with all the luxuries in a very open sprawling house. (see my photos) The house handled 12 people very well and lots of us used the surfboards and the bikes. All beautifully maintained. What a special place.
Beautiful atmosphere and friendly accommodating staff
